SO LONG, FAREWELL.......UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

Well readers, it has been real. For 8 weeks, twice a week I have been exposing you to the new new in music. Somethings  have not been new necessarily to the industry, but guess what, it was new to me. While making myself familiar with the happenings of the music world, on a international scale, I have also greatly enjoyed sharing it with you, in turn making you just as familiar. I have learned the importance of research, gathering information and presenting it in a way that connects with readers. In today's industry print publications are truly becoming a dying breed. Learning to take advantage of the multi-media that is available , such as youtube, playlist, and other links, provides new innovative techniques to journalism.
 To our many fans that wonder what will happen to UNDERTONE MAGAZINE
just stay tuned...................
until next time xoxoneeeeeeeeenaaaaaaa

MUSIC CULTURE:
CHASE&STATUS

Some are on the chase for status, but as you  see in the tittle this duo already has it . Chase&Status are a British music duo that has mastered the are of  mixing. Using hip-hop, techno, and old school samples to create their unique sound. In Britain the sound is classified as DUBstep and clearly they have the technique down to a science. No need to chase the status just do your thing like these guys.

 YOUR BEING EXPOSED TO THE NEW NEW:
MUSIC OF THE RED,WHITE&BLUE

Red is one of the most common colors used on national flags. The use of red has similar connotations from country to country: the blood, sacrifice, and courage of those who defended their country; the sun and the hope and warmth it brings;
Maybe this is the reason red is so popular this season. We all know that are country is at war, some of us have be impacted directly and other indirectly. With the economy slow recovering, some look at these times of struggle with red eyes of frustration;while others adopt patriotism and pure passion for the red, white and blue.
No matter what side of the fence you stand on let’s take a look back and be inspired and encouraged. This 2000 re-make of the Marvin Gaye classic “What’s Go On?” is sure to make the most frustrated soul relieved for a brief second at least.

YOUR BEING EXPOSED TO THE NEW NEW:
POP CULTURE IN JAPAN
    While researching a new aspect of the music culture in Japan I ran across the word J-POP. Yes it sounded interesting to me too! So I did a little more research and found that J- POP (ジェイポップ) an abbreviation for Japanese pop, represents the mainstream popular music of Japan. J-Pop artists are extremely popular in Japan and influence not only music, but also fashion, and many areas of modern pop culture. Based on the data provided by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, Japan pop has the second largest market for recorded music in the world, behind the United States (go figure!).

          The top 5 best-selling artists in the Japanese Oricon (the head of statistics and information on the music industry in Japan) charts history are B'z, Mr. Children, Southern All Stars, Ayumi Hamasaki and Dreams Come True.

          Although I found another artist that seems to be fairly interesting. She goes by the name Utada Hikaru, or otherwise known as Utada, or Hikaru, or Hikki. She writes & composes her own music which has kept her in the J-POP scene since the 90's.Her soothing vocals over melodic rhythms makes her music notable but, the visual are enticing as well. Take a look......
